Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the allegation of a former member of the National Assembly from his State, Senator Lee Maeba, of an assassination plot by him against the former Senator.
Governor Nyesom Wike who has been having a running battle as the Head of the G-5 Governors group within the Peoples Democratic Party with the Party’s Presidential Candidate and former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over the issue of equity within the ranks of the former ruling party.
He advised the former Senator, Lee Maeba, that his game plan of trying to throw around lies because he feels he will be made a minister if the Peoples Democratic Party wins the 2023 Elections will fall flat.
He said Ministerial positions are not given out on the altar of telling lies but by how qualified you are.
He expressed surprise and shock that a man who has represented the people of Rivers State at the National Assembly to go on National Television to accuse the State Governor of a non Existent assassination plot.
While tracing his own history of achievement, he said when he had his first degree in Political Science and administrative Studies and later called to bar, Lee Maeba, was a cook wondering why he will want to kill someone who has no record like his.
He described the former National Assembly member as a non factor in the Politics of his Khana Local Government area of Rivers State.
He described as unfortunate the Statement credited to Lee Maeba, wondering whether telling lies to a Presidential Candidate will earn him a ministerial slot if the Peoples Democratic Party wins the Elections in 2023.
Governor Wike who along with the Governors of Oyo, Seyi Makinde, Benue Samuel Ortom, Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu and Enugu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi make up the G-5 Governors grouping within the Peoples Democratic Party and with Other former governors and leading lights of the former ruling party make up the Integrity Group has led a relentless campaign for equity within its ranks.
He and his allies have been on attack mode following the intrigues which played out during the Presidential primaries of the party in Abuja.
