President Buhari to attend inauguration of Chadian Leader today

President, Muhammadu Buhari will today, Monday, October 10, 2022, attend the inauguration ceremony of Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno as President of the Transitional Team in the Republic of Chad for two years.

The ceremony, which will hold at the capital, N’Djamena, will further accentuate negotiations on peaceful and harmonious return to democratic process in the country, following the passing of the former President, Idriss Deby Itno.

Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, also known as Mahamat Kaka, is the son of the late Chadian President.

Idriss Déby Itno died on April 20, 2021 of gunshot injuries on the front line while commanding his army against rebels from the Front for Change and Concord in Chad (FACT) during the Northern Chad offensive

The Chadian Parliament and Government were both dissolved upon his death and a Transitional Military Council was formed in its place with his son as the chairman

In the 2021 presidential election, Déby won his sixth term as president when results were announced on April 19, 2021

Déby, 68, spent more than three decades in power and was one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.
