The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has blamed the delay in the reconstruction of the High Court, Igbosere division on the lack of funding.
Dr Hamzat, was speaking at the Jumat thanksgiving service to mark the 2022-2023 new legal year of the Lagos State Judiciary at the Lagos Central Mosque, Lagos Island.
The deputy governor, who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the event, was responding to The plea of the Chief Judge of Lagos, Justice Kazeem Alogba for the state government to prioritize the reconstruction of the burnt Igbosere High Court.
According to him, a Trust Fund has been set up to oversee the reconstruction of the Court.
The Igbosere court was looted and burnt down in October 2020 following the hijack of the #EndSARS protests by hoodlums. Some other public structures were also destroyed by the mob at the time.
