Qatar urges UN to compel Israel to end Palestinian Occupation Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani

The Emir of Qatar has said that the UN Security Council must compel Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian territories.

In his speech before the UNGA, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said: “The UN Security Council must shoulder its responsibility and must compel Israel to end the occupation of Palestinian territories and to establish a Palestinian state along the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

The Emir warned that “failure to implement international resolutions and in light of the continuous change of the situation on the ground, the occupation and its settlement activities is pursuing a policy of fait accompli.”

“This will change the rules of the conflict and will change the format of solidarity in the future. At this juncture, I stress that we stand in full solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people in its aspiration to achieve justice,” he said.

Israel has occupied the Palestinian territories for over 50 years and has with the active backing of the United States of America and Other Western powers trampled upon the rights of Palestinians denying them Statehood and the most basic rights.
