The Federal and State governments have been urged to provide adequate security around schools as classes resume today, Monday, September 5, 2022.
National President of the Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria, Haruna Danjuma made the call while addressing journalists in Kaduna on state of insecurity most especially around schools.
Mr Danjuma stressed the importance of providing adequate security guards at the school premises to avert the activities of bandits and kidnappers disturbing students’ education.
He urged all the 36 states and Federal Government to provide protection for children through the provisions of adequate security forces at the school premises.
According to him, Covid 19 pandemic is still a threat, hence the need for the provision of face masks, hand sanitisers and educate the students on social distancing.
Danjuma also urged the Kebbi State and Federal Governments to step up their efforts to free some female secondary school students who have been abducted at Yawuri, noting that some of them have been held captive for more than 450 days.
The President of the Parents, Teachers Association of Nigeria, commended the efforts of the gallant Nigerian Army for tackling security challenges bedevilling the peace and stability in the country.
