Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, has inaugurated the Niger State Chapter of the National Road Safety Strategy Advisory Council (NARSAC).
The inauguration was held at the Council Chamber, Government House in Minna.
Governor Sani Bello stated during the inauguration that Nigeria as a nation has all the ideas and relevant agencies to make the country better.
In a statement by the spokesperson of the governor, Mary Noel Berje, enjoined the council to make the necessary impact in the society.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Niger State Command, Kumar Tsukwa, explained that NARSAC was established in 2018 by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, aimed at improving road safety in the society.
Commander Tsukwa who further expressed concern over the rate of deaths recorded annually in the country due to road accidents, mentioned that the council in collaboration with state and local governments will ensure that accidents are reduced to the lowest level.
The state chapter of NARSAC is responsible for the coordination between state and local government in achieving road safety targets, review reports on monitoring and evaluation for effective coordination of road safety programmes among others.
The council will be headed by the Deputy Governor, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso while the FRCS Sector Commander will serve as the Secretary.
Other members of the council are the Commissioners for Transport, Works, Health, Justice, Education, Finance, Environment, State Planning Commission and Nigeria Society Commander.
