Breaking: JAMB cancels UTME cut off marks

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, has cancelled general cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions.

The institutions are now to set their individual minimum benchmarks for admission.

The Board took the decision at the 2021 policy meeting which held in Abuja and where all participants resolved to adhere to the benchmark proposed to the board.

Speaking during the meeting, the Registrar of the Board, Is-haq Oloyede said different universities had proposed different cut-off Mark’s ranging from 140 to 210.

Professor Oloyede also disclosed that for 2021/2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, the board is introducing two new subjects: computer studies and physical and health education, bringing to a total of 25 subjects.

The stakeholders also agreed to exempt prison inmates, the visually impaired as well as foreign students from sitting for post UTME.
