Enugu State celebrates Christian Chukwu at 70

The Enugu State government has congratulated the former Nigerian international football player and national coach, Christian Chukwu, on his 70th birthday.

In a statement, by the State Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi-Aroh, said the government and the people of the state celebrate the illustrious son of the state for his immeasurable contributions to the development of the game of football both locally and internationally.

The state recalls with nostalgia the numerous contributions of Christian Chukwu to the game of football including leading the Nigerian National team, The Green Eagles, as Captain to win their first ever African Nations Cup in 1980.

Also recounting the outstanding career he had as coach of various National teams, including Nigeria, Kenya and Lebanon, relating it with his performance as manager of Enugu Rangers International FC,. which he said were outstanding.

The government felicitates with his family, friends and the entire football families worldwide , while praying to God to grant him good health, sound mind in his septuagenarian age and beyond .
