Ogun NSCDC command trains 100 officers on curbing human trafficking

Image result for NSCDC trains 100 officers on curbing human trafficking in OgunThe Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ogun State has trained one hundred officers on how to reduce human trafficking, irregular migration and all forms of child abuse in the state.

The training was held at the Civil Defence office, Kobape road, Abeokuta.

TVC News Kazeem Olowe that the United Nations office on drugs and Crime has estimated that about 750,000 persons are trafficked annually in Nigeria and more than 75 per cent of the victims are trafficked across the states, 23 percent are within states while 2 percent are moved outside the country.

As one of the security agencies saddled with the responsibility of the internal security in the country, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps
seems to be worried with the high rate of human trafficking and Irregular Migration in the country.

Another area of concern for the agency is Child protection. Dealing with this threat informed this training held for selected personnel from the 20 local government and 37 local Council development areas.

A child rights activist urged Nigerians to support the security agency in its struggle to protect children from being abused, reduce human
trafficking and Irregular Migration.

He added that women and children are the most affected and they are trafficked internally and externally for economic and sexual exploitation
which is also a major form of abuse.
