President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Akinwunmi Adesina for re-election as the president of African Development Bank for a second term.
confirming his nomination at an event in Lagos on Sunday, Akinwunmi spoke on achievements so far which include “providing 70 million people with improved agricultural technologies to achieve food security.
Also, over nine million people have access to finance from private sector companies.
Before his assumption of office as President of the AFDB, he previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Until his appointment as Minister in 2010, he was Vice President of Policy and Partnerships for the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa.
In 2015, he was elected as the President of the African Development Bank. He was the first Nigerian to hold the post.
