The United Nations has taken a high level forum to Kaduna state to amplify the message of peace as the general election inches closer.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who is also the APC governorship candidiate however pledges renewed commitment to a peaceful process. He also promises to concede should he lose, saying his bid for re-election is not a do or die affair.
TVC News Correspondent, Tesem Akende, reports that it’s a meeting attended by representatives political parties, members of the civil society and other organizations involved in the electoral process.
They are gathered in response to a call by the United Nations and the National Peace Committee, led by former President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdulsallam Abubakar retired.
The United Nations says its mission in the state is to promote growth of modern democracy and peace.
The state governor acknowledges that the United Nations is in his state for good, and not so good reasons.
All said, the Kaduna governor who is also APC’s governorship candidate pledges renewed commitment to a peaceful process.
He said there would be massive deployment of security personnel to keep the peace during the elections, adding that his bid for re-election is not a do or die affair.
They all pledged to ensure that never again should lives be lost to political violence in their state.
