Ondo State government is set to begin a house-to-house verification to identify operators of commercial motorcycles who had earlier registered in a bid to flush out unregistered Okada riders in the state.Government said only commercial motorcyclists who were registered will be allowed to operate.
Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that the State Government had last year embarked on biometric registration for operators of commercial motorcycles and tricycles, starting with Akure, the state capital. The exercise was later extended to Idanre and Owo Local Government Areas of the State.
For those who have registered, it is time for government to verify information supplied by them. To this end, government officials, in collaboration with security agencies, will visit the addresses given by those who registered for verification purpose.
Government advised people to cooperate with its officials to make the exercise a success.
While urging residents not to panic during the period of the exercise, Odebowale insists that those who failed to register would not be allowed to operate in the State.
Government believes that the exercise will sanitize operation of commercial motorcyclists and enhance security in the State.
