The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the detention of the former secretary to the government of the federation, Babachir Lawal in Abuja.
The EFCC acting spokesman, Samin Amadin told TVC News that Lawal was invited and later detained for allegation of fraud totaling 223 million naira.
He said the former SGF is cooperating with investigators and has been making useful statements.
He added that his interview with the anti-corruption agency would continue on Thursday.
President Muhammadu Buhari sacked Lawal in 2017 after allegations that he diverted aid funds intended for the humanitarian crisis in the North-east.
