Lawyer and Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana has described as illegal, the ongoing protests against the human rights organisation, Amnesty International and its operations in Nigeria.
Falana disclosed this on Monday in an interview with TVC News.
Recall that well-respected organisations including the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Global Amnesty Watch have condemned the recent report by Amnesty International which alleged human rights abuses by Nigerian security agencies against arrested Boko Haram suspects. The action that has since sparked protests against the organisation.
Speaking on Monday, the human rights lawyer argued that since Amnesty International is a registered organisation recognised by laws to operate in Nigeria, it is illegal for a group or groups of individual to stage protests against its operations.
Falana stressed that he has written the presidency on the matter but yet to receive any reply. He added that he spoke with the President of Nigeria Labour Union, Ayuba Wabba on how to protect the workers of the Amnesty International.
