The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG has threatened to begin a three-day warning strike on January the 9th, 2017, against the anti-labour practice of the International Oil Companies.
The South-West chairman of the union,Tokunbo Korodo, says the warning strike is inevitable, because all other options had failed.
Korodo stated that the union will not gain anything from the strike, but the welfare of members has to be protected.
He says non-payment of employees’ severance package, is a big slap and it will not be allowed.
The chairman explained that the reason for the planned warning strike was inherited from the previous administration, adding that some of the issues arose, during the term of the incumbent government.
