Its strong fixed broadband performance further reinforces the country’s growing status as a hub for digital innovation, startups, and online services.
Here are the five African countries currently leading the continent in internet speed:

1. Morocco – 80.85 Mbps
Morocco ranks as Africa’s fastest in mobile internet speed, thanks to heavy investment in telecom infrastructure and widespread 4G expansion. Its fixed broadband performance is also strong, supporting digital services, startups, and streaming. Low latency of 9 ms ensures smooth online experiences.
2. South Africa – 65.41 Mbps

Kenya’s mobile-first digital economy continues to drive its connectivity growth. With strong mobile speeds and platforms like M-Pesa, the country remains a leader in digital innovation, although its fixed broadband still trails behind.
