President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Ogun State governor and serving senator, Gbenga Daniel, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a distinguished engineer, entrepreneur and accomplished politician.

In a tribute marking the milestone, the President commended Daniel’s professional achievements, governance record and contributions to national development, noting that his success was built on hard work, resilience, wisdom and courage.

Tinubu highlighted Daniel’s early upbringing in a disciplined Christian home, which he said helped shape his values and prepared him for a life of impact and service.

He also praised Daniel’s entrepreneurial strides, particularly the establishment of Kresta Laurel in 1990, which has grown into a leading electro-mechanical engineering company known for major projects, including elevator installation and maintenance.

Reflecting on his political career, Tinubu described Daniel’s tenure as governor of Ogun State, following his election in 2003, as marked by innovation and a strong focus on industrialisation, public-private partnerships, education and infrastructure development.

He noted that key legacies of the administration include the initiation of the state’s first agro-allied cargo airport and the establishment of Tai Solarin University of Education.

Daniel, popularly known as OGD, currently represents Ogun East Senatorial District, having been elected to the Senate in 2023.

Tinubu also recalled their longstanding political relationship, noting Daniel’s role in supporting his emergence as governor of Lagos State in 1999, including mobilising support through a group of Yoruba professionals.

The President commended Daniel’s political journey, describing him as a committed progressive and loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while acknowledging his earlier stint in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He expressed appreciation for Daniel’s service to Ogun State and Nigeria, wishing him continued good health, longevity and greater impact in the years ahead.

Tinubu also extended goodwill to Daniel’s family, praying for enduring grace and unity as the former governor marks the significant milestone.
