12 soldiers have been killed after gunmen attacked a military base in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.
The attackers struck late Tuesday night, at a time the soldiers were in town to protect contractors working on a new road linking Zamfara and Kaduna states.
In his condolence message, Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased, and said banditry will be defeated.
