The House of Representatives has asked the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to submit the names of slain personnel of the force to the office of the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila for adequate compensation.
This demand follows the IGP’s appeal to the parliament for increased funding of the police in the face of increasing security challenges.
This came to the fore at a budget defence interface between the House Committee on Police Affairs and the Police Chief on Tuesday. Both sides agreed that the N11billion estimated budget for the force in 2021 may be insufficient to fight rising crimes and criminality.
