Fifty-five migrants trying to cross the ocean into Europe from North Africa have been rescued and taken to the Spanish port of Motril.
The migrants, including 2 women and 2 children, were rescued from a boat by Spanish maritime troops, and were helped by the Red Cross on arrival at the port, where they were given healthcare and food.

The search efforts began Tuesday morning after Spain’s rescue service received a notice from a non-governmental organization, warning of the departure of a boat from a beach in North Africa.
Spanish police have currently placed the migrants in a temporary relocation center at the port, as they wait for further instructions.
