Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed sympathy with the Kano State Government and traders affected by the devastating fire that razed Singa Market in Kano, describing the incident as a major tragedy.
The inferno, which swept through the popular market, reportedly destroyed goods and properties estimated at over ₦5 billion, disrupted more than 1,000 businesses, and left seven persons unaccounted for.
In a statement released on Sunday from Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Abiodun said the scale of destruction marked one of the most painful incidents in the history of the market.
He lamented the loss of livelihoods suffered by traders, particularly those operating small-scale businesses within residential buildings affected by the fire.
