The Senate has waded into the prolonged quest for justice in the case of late Ochanya Ogbanje, the 13-year-old who died after years of alleged sexual abuse.
Lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, today presented a petition on behalf of the Ogbanje family, drawing national attention back to a case many Nigerians believe was mishandled.
The petition, which highlights the family’s plea for the conviction of those accused of abusing the late teenager, was admitted as a matter of urgent concern.
In response, the Senate referred the petition to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, directing it to take immediate legislative action.
The move marks a renewed push from the National Assembly to ensure accountability and justice in a case that continues to stir public outrage.
