According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the victims were abducted in the early hours of March 5, 2026, when armed hoodlums reportedly emerged from a nearby bush and blocked a commercial bus travelling from Igbeti to Kishi, forcefully taking four passengers into the surrounding forest.

Following the directive, a combined security team comprising police operatives, personnel of the Amotekun Corps, Operation Burst, and other local security stakeholders commenced an intensive bush-combing operation in the area.

The four abducted passengers were subsequently rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.
The police commissioner commended the bravery and professionalism of the combined security team, noting that effective synergy among security agencies remains critical to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The command also appreciated the support of the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde for providing resources to strengthen security operations.
Meanwhile, the police said intensive bush-combing and intelligence-driven operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
The command urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could aid ongoing investigations.
