Troops of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Borno State Police Command have arrested two suspected vandals and recovered 13 sacks of high-tension cables during sustained operations against theft and vandalism of critical state infrastructure.

In a Friday statement signed by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects were arrested on 26th of January in the Gubio Local Government Area.

The statement reads, “On 26th January 2026, at about 1000hrs, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Anti-Social Vice Unit, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended two suspects (1) Saminu Muhammed M’ 24yrs (2) Mohammed Bukar M’ 25yrs in Gubio Local Government Area.

“The suspects were found in possession of thirteen (13) sacks containing vandalised high-tension electrical cables, which had been concealed and disguised as animal feed. The case has since been expanded for further discreet investigation and prosecution.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, reaffirms the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

TVC News previously reported that the operatives of the Borno State Police Command have uncovered a hidden cache of 912 rounds of B32 API type (7.62 x 51mm) ammunition in the Kumshe Jamba Mari area of Maiduguri, the state capital.

According to a late Sunday statement by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, the exhibits have been secured while investigations are ongoing to trace the source and intended use of the ammunition.
