The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across seven states and the Federal Capital Territory, including the arrest of a suspected armed robber and a trans-border drug trafficker, the rescue of kidnap victims, and the recovery of firearms, stolen vehicles and rustled cattle.
In Rivers State, police arrested a suspected notorious armed robber, Kelvin Tamunu, also known as “Jagaplus”, during a raid on a hideout at Abonnema Waterside in Port Harcourt. The suspect allegedly confessed to multiple armed robberies, including the attack and attempted murder of a retired police officer in May. Officers recovered two pump-action rifles and nine live cartridges, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.
In Sokoto State, tactical operatives foiled a bandit attack on Ayawa Village in Tangaza Local Government Area after gunmen rustled 11 cows. Following a gun battle, the bandits fled into a nearby forest, leaving behind all the stolen livestock.

“All 11 rustled cows were recovered and will be handed back to their verified owners through community leaders,” the police said.

Police also rescued kidnapped victims in Nasarawa State after engaging suspected kidnappers in a gun duel along the Akwanga–Jos Road. The suspects fled into the bush under heavy police fire, while all the victims were rescued unharmed.
“Joint bush-combing operations involving the Police, Military, Vigilantes and Local Hunters are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects,” the Force said.
In Katsina State, officers arrested Ibrahim Usman, 37, from Tahoua State in Niger Republic, along the Mashi–Birnin Kuka border, recovering 28 blocks of suspected cannabis.
“The suspect confessed to transporting the illicit consignment from Lagos State for distribution within Nigeria and the Niger Republic,” the police said.
In Plateau State, detectives recovered a stolen 2022 Toyota Hilux in Bauchi State and arrested two suspects in connection with the theft.

In the Federal Capital Territory, police arrested a suspect found with two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, suspected cannabis and charms. Officers also recovered a stolen BMW X6 and impounded a suspected stolen Mercedes-Benz E350.
Meanwhile, in Benue State, police carried out an intelligence-led clearance operation on a suspected bandit camp in Logo Local Government Area, forcing the criminals to flee into forests bordering Nasarawa and Taraba states after a gun battle.
The Force Headquarters said investigations are ongoing across the affected states, adding that security operations would continue.
“The onslaught on banditry and other criminalities continues,” the police stated.
