The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists and recovered a locally made pistol during an intelligence-led operation targeting cult-related violence in Ondo Town.

The arrest of the suspects was contained in a statement on Wednesday signed by the Police Spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh.

The operation, according to him, was carried out by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Akure, following credible intelligence provided by the Ondo End Miscreant Group.

“The Ondo State Police Command, under the proactive leadership of CP Adebowale Lawal, continues to intensify its operational efforts toward curbing cultism and other violent crimes across the State, with renewed focus on intelligence-led policing and strategic community collaboration,” the statement said.

According to the police, the suspects were arrested on April 11, 2026, in Ondo Town, and preliminary investigations linked them to rival cult groups.

The Command added that the suspects were allegedly involved in a cult clash on April 9, 2026, within the premises of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, where rival groups reportedly disrupted public peace.

The police said the suspects, identified as Nnamdi Sunday and Adegbuyi Seyi, later led operatives to a suspected cult hideout in the Oka Garage area, where a firearm was recovered.
