Senator Ned Nwoko has dismissed claims made in recent social media posts by his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, concerning their children, stating that they were not taken away or concealed from her.

According to the senator, Daniels’ separation from the children was not imposed but resulted from her own decisions.

He added that the matter had already been considered by a court, which ordered that she undergo rehabilitation and be evaluated by the Abuja Social Welfare Department as a condition for restoring her access to the children.

In a statement on his X handle by his communications team on Tuesday, Nwoko labelled Daniels’ posts as “misleading and inconsistent with long-established family practice.”

“The recent posts by Regina present a version of events that is both misleading and inconsistent with long-established family practice. Publicly sharing moments involving the children has never been new, unusual, or controversial within the family,” the statement said.

The statement further clarified that the claim that Daniels has been prevented from being a part of the children’s lives is “equally misleading.”

Nwoko reiterated that the children have always been cared for in an environment prioritising routine, emotional balance, and stability.

“Children deserve a parent who is emotionally present, mentally sound, and sober most of the time. This is not an unreasonable expectation; it is the minimum standard of care any parent owes their children,” the statement added.

The statement came after Daniels’ post on Monday, speaking about the pain of being separated from her children, stating that no mother could be at peace under such circumstances. She added that despite the challenges, she remained committed to seeing her children soon, writing:

“I may be young, but I am such a mum, I enjoy being a mum and I miss being a mum. I will definitely see my kids soon!”

Nwoko also highlighted that the court had addressed these issues: “The ruling was resolved in favour of Senator Ned Nwoko, with clear directions that Regina Daniels must undergo drug rehabilitation and be assessed by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before access can be restored to Munir (5) and Khalifa (3), the children of the marriage.

“The matter has been adjourned to 4 February 2026 for hearing of the substantive suit.”

He further urged Daniels to abide by court directives, noting that her online posts risk “using the children as emotional shields to deflect from unresolved personal issues” and stressing that the “most responsible and meaningful step remains compliance with the court-directed rehabilitation process and a demonstrated commitment to sustained personal wellness.”

Nwoko concluded, “It is our hope that this window of quietude will be used for healing and recovery, rather than generating another cycle of online attention.”
