Nine suspected drug traffickers are currently explaining what they know about five thousand sachets of Tramadol worth twenty-five million Naira, to security operatives.
They were arrested by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps in Adamawa State, and will be prosecuted.
The latest success in the war on illicit drugs is coming at a time when the dreaded group known as Shila Boys, has become a nightmare to residents in the state capital.
Many are worried that too often, criminal gangs are the major reason banned drugs continue to remain in circulation with negative impact on the youth.
Parading the suspects, the Commandant of the corps, Nuraddeen Abdullahi, says the latest breakthrough came on the heels of a collaboration with the military.
He appeals to residents to cooperate with security agencies to track down traffickers, stressing the long-term effect of drugs.
One of the suspects explains his part. “Someone invite me to do jobs for him, when I got there I discovered it was drug business and fight erupts, so I started running it was then the local vigilante accosted me and handed me to the the NSCDC, I don’t know anything about it,” Suleman Abdullahi said
Residents say there biggest need is to see a city ridden of illicit drugs and banned substances.
