NMA Enugu Promises To Help Tackle Quacks, Other Infractions

The newly elected officers of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Enugu State Council have promised to improve quality service delivery, tackle quackery and other infractions in medical practice in the state with renewed vigour.

This formed part of the resolutions reached at the Congress that preceded their Annual General meeting and election held in Enugu state.

With over 40,000 members across the country, the Nigeria Medical Association is the largest professional body in the West African region.

According to experts, about 45% of Nigerian doctors practice in urban areas where only 55% of the population lives.

This creates an unbalanced doctor-patient ratio which is one of the challenges of the Nigerian health system that the association,  Federal  and state Governments are trying to address.

The executives elected under the newly introduced E-voting process,  promised to address the challenges hampering their smooth operation and protect the welfare of its members in the state.

The chairman  underscores its executive projection which tend to reconcile and reform the state profession to deliver the expected service to the public.

The state chapter dissociated itself from another faction allegedly being sponsored by the national body, and cautioned against dealing with them.

The group promised to promote moral conduct, good medical practice guided with ethics and unite all parties with the aim to ensure that NMA Enugu retuned to its prestigious state.
