The Federal Ministry of Education has formalised a partnership with Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education Education Services (ITEES) to strengthen Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system.
The agreement, signed today at 9:30 a.m. during a ceremony connecting officials in Abuja and Singapore, will support Nigeria through a Train-the-Trainer Programme for TVET instructors, leadership training in Singapore for principals and heads of departments of technical institutions, and the introduction of the Global Excellence Model for Skills Training (GEMSET) to benchmark and improve TVET institutions across the country.
The collaboration builds on engagements initiated during the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON’s official visit to Singapore in 2025 and subsequent discussions with the Singapore High Commissioner to Nigeria at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja earlier this year.
The Federal Ministry of Education notes that the partnership supports the National Education, Skills and Research for Innovation (NESRI) agenda and aligns with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to build a globally competitive, skills-driven economy.
Dr Alausa reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to building a modern, industry-driven technical education system capable of equipping Nigerian youth with the skills required to compete in a rapidly evolving global economy.
