The Nigerian Navy has rescued a kidnapped victim, Mr Benedict Eze, in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, following sustained operations by personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny.
Mr Eze, who was abducted on 23 March 2026 at Aganya Community, was found at Coconut Jetty after being abandoned by his captors around the Opuoma waterside.
The rescue followed intensified pressure from naval personnel, who conducted continuous intelligence-led patrols supported by technological surveillance and coordinated operations across land and waterways to block possible escape routes.
After the operation, the victim was evacuated to a Naval Base medical facility for evaluation and debriefing before being safely reunited with his family.
The Navy said the successful rescue highlights the effectiveness of joint maritime and land-based security efforts in tackling criminal activities within the Bonny–Port Harcourt waterways and adjoining creeks.
It added that the operation aligns with the directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to strengthen measures against criminal elements in the maritime domain.
The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to sustained proactive patrols and intelligence-driven operations to enhance security, protect lives and property, and ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
