The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated expired and unregistered food and cosmetic products valued at over ₦350 million during a large-scale enforcement operation in Kano State.

The three-day operation, which targeted Singer Market and several major supermarkets across Kano metropolis, was conducted following multiple petitions from concerned members of the public. It was jointly led by officials from NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate and the North-West Zonal Office.

Among the seized items were expired candies, beverages, and a wide range of unregistered imported products, many lacking English labelling in violation of regulatory standards. Several high-profile supermarkets were also found stocking unregistered food and cosmetic products, now under investigation.

In a statement released by the agency, NAFDAC reaffirmed its dedication to protecting public health and maintaining regulatory oversight. The agency stressed that only safe, approved, and quality-assured products will be permitted in Nigerian markets.

Further investigations are ongoing to identify and prosecute individuals and businesses responsible for the distribution of the illicit goods.

NAFDAC also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious or unregistered products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
