The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on advertising and marketing professionals to use their platforms responsibly to foster truth, unity, and national pride.
The appeal was made during the 5th National Advertising Conference at the Abuja Continental Hotel, an annual event organized by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON). Idris commended ARCON, led by Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, for sustaining the forum as a key platform for marketing and communication experts.
He highlighted the conference theme, “Marketing Communication: Transforming Business and Creating Growth in Challenging Times,” noting it underscores the industry’s pivotal role in driving innovation and economic growth amid both global and local challenges.

The Minister cautioned against the spread of misinformation, emphasizing the need for credible storytelling to project Nigeria as a nation of diversity, resilience, and opportunity. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening regulation, promoting professionalism, and ensuring the advertising sector thrives in a digital environment.
In his remarks, ARCON Director-General Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo encouraged practitioners to leverage creativity, data, and technology to sustain business growth in difficult times. He added that the conference provides a platform for professionals to learn, share insights, and reposition the industry for the future.
The three-day conference, running from November 12 to 14, 2025, features exhibitions, panel discussions, and presentations from both local and international experts.
