The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Labour Party (LP) convened at the party’s National Secretariat in Utako, Abuja, on Friday, bringing together members of the National Working Committee (NWC), state chairmen and secretaries, party stakeholders, and monitors from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
During the meeting, the NEC reaffirmed the Supreme Court’s ruling that internal disputes within political parties are non-justiciable and must be addressed through party constitutions and internal mechanisms.
The council also ratified and confirmed the National Officers elected at the party’s 2024 National Convention in Anambra State.
The officers include:
National Chairman: Barr. Julius Abure
Deputy National Chairmen: Mr. Clement Ojukwu, Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi, Esther Gulmu
National Vice Chairmen: Ibrahim Idoko (North Central), Ceekay Igarra (South East), Anthony C. Ezeagwu (South South)

National Secretary: Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim
Deputy National Secretaries: Rotimi Kehinde Adekunle, Chief Innocent Okeke
National Treasurer: Mrs. Ngozi Doga
National Financial Secretary: Pastor Mrs. Dayo Ekong
National Publicity Secretary: Mr. Obiora Ifoh
National Organizing Secretary: Comrade Yahuza Ahmed
National Legal Adviser: Barr. Kehinde Edun
National Women Leader: Mrs. Dudu Manuga
National Youth Leader: Prince Kennedy Ahanotu
In addition, the NEC filled vacant NWC positions, appointing Oluwafemi Abayomi Arabambi as National Vice Chairman South West, Prince Favour Reuben as Assistant National Organizing Secretary, and Barr. Enu Kikawa as Assistant National Woman Leader South South.
The council further mandated the National Chairman and National Secretary to convene a Special Convention if necessary and ratified the decision to hold Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses nationwide.
National Chairman Julius Abure, former vice-presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed, and other party leaders attended the NEC meeting, which was also observed by INEC officials.
The Labour Party described the meeting as a critical step in consolidating its leadership structure and ensuring that internal party matters continue to be resolved in line with its constitution.
