Image result for Low turnout mars House of Assembly by-election in AdamawaThe rescheduled by-election to fill the vacuum created by the death of APC House of Assembly candidate for Nassarowo/Biyere constituency two weeks to the general elections was on Saturday marred by low turnout.

Correspondent Owolabi Adenusi reports that the supplementary polls for Nassawo-Biyeri and Uba Gaya constituencies in Adamawa State was characterized by voters’ apathy.

The voter turnout was not as impressive as the last governorship election in the State.

The staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present for the exercise as early as 8:am in most polling units visited.

Security was tight across the two affected local governments as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Usman Tilli led other security agencies to supervise the polls.

Tilli was satisfied with conduct of the electorates.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner and some electorates were happy with the conducive atmosphere under which the exercise went.

The deputy governor, Martins Babale is optimistic that the APC candidate will overwhelmingly win the two constituencies at the end of the polls.

The outcome of the supplementary House of Assembly elections will determine the next Speaker of Adamawa as both APC and PDP now have eleven lawmakers each.
