Some members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara state are currently protesting in front of the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the continued detention of former Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed.
The former governor was invited for questioning by the EFCC on Monday and he has been in their custody since them.
He is being interrogated over the finances of the state during his tenure as the governor of the state between 2011 and 2019.
Members of the PDP mobilized to the EFCC office chanting solidarity songs in support of the former governor.
They accused the EFCC of acting the script of the government to victimize the former governor.
But in a swift reaction, the commander of the Ilorin Zonal Office of the EFCC, Mr Michael Nzekwe said the former governor is still in their custody because of the need iron out some grey areas.
He said Mr Ahmed is being held according to the law and he has access to his lawyers, doctors and family members contrary to the claim by the pdp members.
