Kebbi first lady and Stop Tuberculousis Champion, Zainab Nasir Idris, has commissioned a modern Drug Resistant Tuberculosis Treatment Centre at the Argungu General Hospital.
Hajiya Zainab Nasare affirmed that efforts have been stepped up to discourage stigmatisation against people living with tuberculosis as lots of lives were lost to curable diseases such as tuberculosis.
Adding that as a measure to giving them hope the centre has been improved and designed to treat patients who are resistant to drugs with modern facilities in other to help cure TB and stop its spread.
Representative of the Federal Ministry of Health under the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control, Dr. Bello Umar Tambuwa, stated that the Centre is a welcoming idea, as patients with acute tuberculosis who attained severe stage due drugs resistance would be cater for.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Kebbi state, Alhaji Yunusa Musa Ismail, thanked the First Lady for her various interventions in the health sector, and for striving to ensure the TB centre has been established put to use as so patients would no longer go to Sokoto for treatment.
In his remarks the Chairman Argungu local government Alhaji Aliyu Musa gulma commended the first lady Hajiya Zainab and her Husband Governor Nasir Idris for making positive impact to improve the wellbeing of the people in the area and kebbi Stage in General.
