The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has refuted reports claiming an increase in its registration fees, describing the claims as false, misleading, and “entirely unfounded.”
In a statement issued on Thursday, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, clarified that the board’s approved fees have remained the same since 2019.
According to JAMB, the fees are as follows: Direct Entry (DE) – N5,700, UTME only (without mock) – N7,200, UTME with mock – N8,700
Benjamin explained that the charges cover multiple components, including an application fee of N3,500, a reading text at N1,000, CBT centre registration service charge of N700, CBT centre UTME service charge of N1,500, bank charges of ₦500, and a CBT mock-UTME centre charge of N1,500 where applicable.

The board also recalled that in 2018, the Federal Executive Council approved a reduction of the UTME application fee from N5,000 to N3,500, a policy implemented in 2019. Since then, the fee structure has remained unchanged, despite rising operational costs.
JAMB urged candidates, parents, and guardians to rely only on official information from the board’s platforms and publications.
“Any candidate who pays more than the approved fees should promptly report such centres with credible evidence to enable the Board investigate and take disciplinary action against those found guilty of overcharging or engaging in unethical practices,” the statement read.
The board reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of candidates’ interests, warning that misleading publications or actions by unscrupulous individuals will not be tolerated.
This clarification comes amid widespread social media claims that registration fees had been increased, which JAMB confirmed to be untrue.
