Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and an aspirant for the Ogun State governorship under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has met President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, expressing support for his leadership and reaffirming her 2027 gubernatorial ambition.
Obasanjo hailed President Tinubu’s strong commitment to strengthening democracy and providing support for the next generation of leaders.
In a Tuesday statement cited by TVC News, Obasanjo disclosed the details of her visit to the President in Lagos, saying, “Our conversation was insightful and forward-looking.”
The former Commissioner for Health and Senator who represented Ogun Central between 2007 and 2011 described her meeting with the President as very fruitful and memorable, noting that the discussion centred on leadership and national growth.
Obasanjo said, “Thank you, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Yesterday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.”
She added, “I sincerely thank the President for his time, wisdom and his lasting commitment to strengthening our democracy and supporting the next generation of leaders.”

Speaking about her desire to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2027, Obasanjo said, “I have been part of the political landscape of this state for many years, and I understand the aspirations and challenges of our people.
“I am not new to the system, and I believe that experience is important when it comes to governance and delivering meaningful development to the people.
“What Ogun State needs at this time is leadership that understands the people and is committed to transforming every sector of our economy.
“If given the opportunity to serve as governor, I will focus on strengthening education, improving healthcare delivery and creating employment opportunities for our youths.
“We must build a state where our young people have jobs, where our schools produce future leaders, and where our health institutions can adequately cater for the needs of our citizens.
