Efforts are on to rebuild Bama in Borno State, in the aftermath of destruction by Boko Haram. Besides that, aid agencies and non governmental organisations have been donating relief materials at an IDP camp in the town.
The distribution of the items is being done by the Nigeria Airforce Officers Wives Association, to forestall their diversion by local authorities.
Sifon Essien reports that Bama, one of 27 local council areas in Borno State destroyed by Boko Haram. The town is about 60 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.
Records show that about 10, 000 homes and 86 public buildings were destroyed by terrorists in Bama. Government officials say it is among the worst hit by the Boko Haram terror.
The scale of destruction lends credence to the claim. But the once deserted town is gradually coming back to life.
This is as a result of the on going efforts to rebuild the town, the 2nd largest in the state. But the reconstruction is slow.
At the IDP camp, life is uneasy. But not as difficult as it was months back when there was a spike in the number of deaths.
The displaced persons say lives were being cut short by lack of food and medicare. The Nigerian Airforce Officera Wives Association, also known as *NAFOWA*, put together the materials voluntarily donated by Nigerian Airforce personnel.
To forestall the diversion of materials, *NAFOWA *officials worked with leaders in the camp in distributing the materials. They appreciate the gesture, but their earnest desire is to return home.
For now, they remain in the camp until lasting peace is restored and their homes reconstructed,
