General Christopher Musa (retd), the Minister of Defence, attributed his rise to national leadership to a higher power, describing it as a journey guided by divine intervention.
Musa expressed gratitude to God, saying the “divine being” lifted him at a time when circumstances appeared stacked against him.
The Defence Minister remarked while sharing his testimony at the Conquerors Global Assembly in Abuja, with the footage gaining traction online following a report by Church Times this past Sunday.
According to the Church Times, Musa attended the service alongside his wife and thanked the founder of the church, Bishop David Abioye, and his wife.
He also offered prayers for the continued growth of the ministry.
Addressing the congregation, Musa urged worshippers not to lose hope, saying, “because we serve a living God. He will never give up on us.”
Musa said, “We give God the glory for what has happened this year. Even when the enemy thought they were putting us down, they did not know God was going to lift us up. In their small mind they conspired and thought they had won. But as long as you have God as your pillar, you will win.”
In October, President Bola Tinubu removed General Musa as Chief of Defence Staff following a wave of controversy regarding an alleged plot to oust the administration.
However, in a new plot twist, amid the heightened insecurity plaguing the country, President Tinubu reappoints Musa as the Minister of Defence, replacing Mohammed Badaru, who resigned on health grounds, with the President expressing confidence in Musa’s ability to lead the ministry and strengthen it.

While delivering his testimony, the defence minister, who described Abioye as a close ally, said challenges were necessary for growth, noting that adversity builds strength.
He said, “If you are never challenged, you can never improve in life. As Nigerians, we know we are strong, but we are stronger together with God Almighty. Nigerians are winners. We must continue to pray for our leaders and our country.”
Musa pleaded with the Christian community against negative narratives about the country, warning that persistent criticism undermines national progress.
He said, “If you continue to talk down on your country, you don’t mean well.”
The minister further called on Christians to practise what they profess, stressing that impact comes from living out one’s beliefs.
TVC News previously reported that the Senate had confirmed the former Chief of Defence Staff, Retired General Christopher Musa, as the new Minister of Defence upon the conclusion of his screening.
The screening exercise began shortly after the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, read President Tinubu’s request during plenary, urging lawmakers to consider and approve the ex-CDS as a replacement for former Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, who resigned on Monday, citing health reasons.
