Governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku, has presented a 2020 budget estimate of more than two hundred billion naira to the state assembly.
The appropriation bill named ‘Budget of Accelerated Growth and Development’ is 31.63% higher than the budget of 2019 which was one hundred and forty six billion naira.
Works, health and education are priorities of governor Darius Ishaku for year 2020.
The Governor had promised rapid transformation if given a second term mandate.
The appropriation bill he presented earmarks about 71 billion naira to service recurrent expenditure, while over 140 billion naira is earmarked for capital expenditure.
Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport gets the highest estimate with N77 billion, followed by Health and Education with N14 billion and N11 billion respectively.
Mr Ishaku reassured the lawmakers of his administration’s readiness to work with them towards development of the state.
The speaker lauded the governor for being “meticulous” in the implementation of past budgetary allocations as appropriated by the members.
Taraba residents are optimistic the governor’s promise of hope and restoration will indeed be realized with the passage of this budget.
