Africa will field 10 football teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after DR Congo national football team clinched the continent’s final qualification spot.

The Congolese side secured their place after edging past the Nigeria national football team in the African play-offs before defeating the Jamaica national football team 1-0 in the intercontinental play-off on Tuesday night.

Their qualification completes Africa’s largest-ever contingent at the Mundial, with nine other nations already confirmed for the expanded tournament.
