The agitation for local council development areas is gaining momentum in Ondo State, with four communities calling for the creation of Irekari Council Area.
This is response to last month’s setting up of a committee on LCDA creation, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that the latest agitation is coming from four communities in Ose Local Government Area of the State.
The communities want Irekari Local Council Development Area to be created out of the present Ose Local Government Area.
Some leaders of the communities, which comprise Ido-Ani, Afo, Idogun and Imeri said creation of Irekari LCDA is long overdue.
Traditional rulers from these communities also added their voice to this agitation. They expressed optimism that the committee set-up by the State Government on creation of LCDAs would do the needful.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had on 21st of March, set-up 11-man committee on creation of LCDAs in the State.
