Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, has received over twenty thousand new members into the All Progressives Congress from the Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State.
The defectors who were led by the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Prof. John Inyang and Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, Ofem Obeten said their decision to dump their former party was to join Governor Ben Ayade in taking Cross River State to the next level in terms of development and opportunities.
The former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani, in his speech to the new party members said the sixteen years of PDP rule in Cross River State did not bring any value to governance in the Council Area.
He commended Governor Ayade for changing the political history of the state by giving opportunities to the younger generation devoid of the Cabal arrangement of taking the state common wealth to develop the interest of the few.
Usani added that the latest decamping of pillars of the People’s Democratic Party in Yakurr Local Government Area to All Progressive Congress (APC), indicates a New Era in the politics of the central Senatorial district of Cross River State.
He said their is no old or new APC members, adding that there will be Justice and equity for all which form the basic part of internal party democracy that the party stand for.
On their part, the Commissioner for lands Prof John Inyang and Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, Ofem Obeten said all the PDP structures in Yakurr Local Government have moved with them into the ruling All Progressives Congress APC.
Former Presidential Aide, Okoi Obono Obla in his speech said APC has taken over the Yakurr nation as doors are still wide open for other members to join the family.
“Our doors are open to all members of PDP as many of them have been showing interest and we are prepared to register them from the PDP to the APC. We are happy to accept you into the progressives,” Obla said.
