FG to support establishment of vocational colleges

Vice president Yemi Osinbajo made the promise at the inauguration of the International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College, Ajase Ipo, Kwara state.

Correspondent Ibrahim Alege reports that the International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College, Ajase Ipo, was established by the Kwara state government to equip the youth with the necessary vocational skills for gainful employment.

Vice President Yemi Oshibajo who inaugurated the college was pleased with Kwara State government for establishing the college which he noted will provide the needed skills for job seekers.

Oshibajo declared that the federal government will support states to replicate the vocational college in order to discourage importation of artisans from neighbouring countries.

The college has five fields of study which include building and construction, automotive, electrical, air conditioning and welding.

An obviously elated governor AbdulFatah Ahmed said arrangements were being made to provide loans for graduates from the college to kick start their trade.

The International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College, Ajase Ipo was established by the Kwara state government at a cost of N3.2 billion with an expansion plan of N13 billion.
