The Joint Action Committee of Subventing Institutions in Ekiti State which includes all Universities, Teaching Hospital, and College of Heath Sciences owned by the Ekiti State Government have demanded that the 5 Months Subvention arrears due to them to the tune of 3,172,500,000 (Three Billion, One hundred and Seventy two Million Five Hundred thousand)Naira be released within the next 24 Hours

Union Leaders from State owned institutions Addressed the Press at the Popular Fajuyi Ground, directly opposite the State Civic Center to drive home their agitations.

They Complained that despite the huge bailout received by the state government, the Governor has refused to change his mind on Subventing Institutions in the State and the refusal to defray the 5 Months outstanding subventions has been described as unjust.

The Joint Committee members also dissociate themselves from the NLC Chairman in the State who they feel has been compromised and does not represent the interest of the Workers in the State but his own meal ticket.

In the Press Statement issued, they warned Government to as a matter of priority accede to their request or there will be an unprecedented industrial dispute which will lead to a total shutdown of all Government-owned Tertiary Institutions in the State
