Cubana Chief Priest Defends Tinubu Support Amid Criticism

Socialite and entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest has addressed criticism over his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for re-election, questioning the logic of ethnic loyalty in Nigeria’s political landscape.

In a statement posted on his Instagram page, Chief Priest insisted that national interest should outweigh tribal considerations, urging Nigerians to prioritize unity and collective prosperity.

Chief Priest argued that political support should not be dictated by ethnicity. He praised Tinubu’s strategic approach to leadership, highlighting that the president once supported Muhammadu Buhari, a leader from a different tribe, and waited eight years before ascending to the presidency himself.

“If as an Igbo man supporting Tinubu is a betrayal, what is a Yoruba man supporting Obi? We can only be Nigerians for us to prosper in Nigeria. Wetin your governor wey get immunity see align with na wetin una wan make common business man like us to battle. Tinubu is 20 steps ahead, can’t you guys read the lines? How can we comfortably decide to fail again, all in the name of being tribalistic? Chief Priest urged supporters to align with a leader who has a clear plan and strong structure, suggesting that doing so would secure a better future for ordinary Nigerians.

Follow who know road, stay with a person who gets structure so that you sef fit tap in & plan for your own better future. We don’t fight, protest, scream, yell, or even Kpai ourselves & nothing changed. We don even do sit at home for years, nothing changed. Like this, the only option is for us to serve & get settled. The socialite’s statement follows a recent video he shared showing Igbo businessmen donating buses to support Tinubu’s campaign. He emphasised that their goal was to ensure Tinubu’s victory and boost his popularity among South-Eastern Nigerians.
