A lawmaker representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Fred Agbedi, has called on the Federal Government to construct bridges to deal with perennial problem threatening the Sagbama road linking Ekeremor, in Bayelsa West Senatorial District.
He made the call when he visited the road which is being threatened coastal erosion.
Earmarked for construction by the Federal Government over forty years ago,the Sagbama/Ekeremor road presently been constructed by the Bayelsa State Government is facing the perennial problem of flooding as a result of coastal erosion.
The surging waters are heading to town, tearing through anything in its path and the Bayelsa West Senatorial road is not spared.
The lawmaker representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency called for the urgent intervention of the Federal Government.
The use of sand and cement for a mixture of concrete is only a stop -gap – measure and may not withstand the surging current, as the road is threatened and time is of the essence if something will be done soon then that time is now.
