The whole activities happened in the presence of the commander in chief of the armed forces, his deputy, principal officers of the legislature, the judiciary, service chiefs, the inspector general of police, members of the federal executive council and diplomats.

The atmosphere was different from the many projections of doom and gloom that has dominated public discourse.

This year’s independence has brought renewed hopes of a stronger and prosperous Nigeria.
